In 1860, the state of California is assigning land grants for ranches, with the forms sent to Washington, D.C., via the Pony Express. After multiple riders are killed, Capt. Bob Bradley (Bob Baker) and his friend, Andy Sharpe (Don Barclay), travel west to investigate. At the ranch of Don Ricardo Hernandez (Martin Garralaga), Bob learns riders are being killed for their grants by henchmen working for Jack Sommers (LeRoy Mason), who is trying to falsely claim as much property as possible.
