Bob Horton (David Worth) is in love with Helen Riddle (June Marlowe), but his employer, ranch owner Jim Riddle (Richard Cramer), won't allow his niece to marry a lowly cowboy. Jim does let Bob ride Black King, one of his toughest horses, in a race with notorious bandit Don Carlos (Julian Rivero), but is disappointed when Black King loses. When Carlos gambles away his winnings at a poker game, his showdown with a card dealer sparks a chain of events that ends with Bob being accused of murder.
