Eden Hazard is in line to make his first Real Madrid appearance of the 2020-21 campaign when Zinedine Zidane’s side will open their home account in La Liga against Real Valladolid.
Los Blancos have been without Hazard’s services for much of his first year in Madrid, with the Belgian limited to a single goal in 22 appearances thus far. He last featured in Real’s UEFA Champions League exit to Manchester City during last term’s round of 16 in August, but Zidane could welcome the winger back for Wednesday’s matchup.
Real confirmed the match-day squad for the midweek outing on Tuesday, which confirmed Toni Kroos, Eder Militao and forward Mariano Diaz will miss out through injury, via The Athletic’s Dermot Corrigan:
Zidane spoke positively regarding Hazard’s chances of a return, with his side looking to keep touch at the top following a delayed start to their league campaign:
What TV Channel is Real Madrid vs. Real Valladolid on?
Real Madrid’s clash at home to Valladolid will be broadcast on beIN Sports at 3:30 p.m. ET. You can live stream La Liga matches on fuboTV.
The defending league champions will continue to play their home games at the 6,000-seat Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano—home of Real’s youth team—until fans are allowed to safely attend matches again.
Valladolid travel to the capital seeking their first win this season having drawn twice and lost once already. Sergio Gonzalez’s side lost 2-0 at Real Betis in their only away trip of the campaign thus far, though they managed to snatch a 1-1 draw when they visited Zidane & Co. in August 2019.
Los Pucelanos last defeated Real in November 2008, but they haven’t beaten the capital club on their own soil since May 2000. A winless start to the 2020-21 season thus far suggests their chances of ending that drought Wednesday are slim, especially considering Valladolid won only four times in 19 road games last term.

Federico Valverde made his first start of the season in the 3-2 win at Real Betis on Saturday. The Uruguayan looks more likely to keep his place alongside Casemiro with Kroos out of contention. Zidane could introduce Hazard and returning Marco Asensio to optimise wing strength, though Isco is another option if the manager opts for a narrower setup.
Defenders Kiko Olivas and Javi Moyano won’t recover in time for Valladolid, while Gonzalez will also be missing midfielders Ruben Alcaraz and Joaquin Fernandez.
Goalkeeper Jordi Masip is also a major doubt for the visitors after he tested positive for the coronavirus, meaning Roberto could retain his place as No. 1 for a third straight match.
