Japan battles Korea DPR on Sunday afternoon in the finals of the U-20 Women’s World Cup
The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is down to two teams as Japan takes on Korea DPR in the finals. Japan is coming off a big 2-0 win over the Netherlands in the semifinals on Wednesday. The Japanese team has been great in the tournament as they have yet to lose a match and have given up just two total goals. They have shutout four different teams on their way to the final. In the semifinal against the Dutch team they didn’t score until Manaka Matsukubo got a ball to the back of the net in the 55th minute. Matsukubo would get her second goal in the 83rd minute to put the match away. They dominated the match as they outshot the Netherlands 24-1 and didn’t allow a shot on target. Sunday they will look to continue their run against a very good North Korean team.

Korea DPR knocked off the United States in the semifinals 1-0 and are now in position to win their third U-20 World Cup.
It was the North Koreans second straight 1-0 win as they also knocked off Brazil by that score in the quarterfinals. It was also their fourth shutout of the tournament.
In their game against the Americans they outshot them 17-7 on their way to the win. They go the lone goal in the 22nd minute as Choe II Son scored.
The defense did the rest as they kept the US from scoring and are now back in the finals of the World Cup with a chance to knock off a very good Japanese team.
