The United States will take on the Netherlands in the Third-Place Game in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Saturday afternoon in Bogotá, Colombia, at Estadio Nemesio Camacho ‘El Campin’. The United States entered the knockout stage of the tournament with a Round of 16 game against Mexico where it won 3-2. Pietra Tordin scored first before Mexico leveled it up. Allyson Sentnor scored and gave the US the lead again before an own-goal knotted it at 2-2. Jordynn Dudley scored the game-winning goal in the 97th minute to advance the US to take on Germany in the quarterfinals. The full-time game with Germany ended 2-2 with Dudley scoring the only goal of the game. The United States’s other goal was Germany’s own goal. The US won in penalties after extra time 3-1. They lost their semifinal game earlier this week against Pakistan 1-0 to find itself in the third-place game.

The Netherlands entered the knockout stage against France in the opening Round of 16. After going down 1-0, Jet Van Beijeren and Fleur Stoit scored two, second-half goals to win the game for the Dutch. They advanced on to play their hometown Colombia in the quarterfinal.

The game ended full-time 2-2 with Inske Weiman and Stoit scoring the two goals for the Netherlands. The nation ended up winning 3-0 in penalties. The Netherlands was then shutout 2-0 by Japan in the semifinals which placed them in the third-place game against the United States.
