Nepal and Sri Lanka shared a point each after heavy rain in Florida and a waterlogged outfield at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill led to the abandonment of their T20 World Cup Group D match.
The outcome meant that Group D leader South Africa became the first team in the 20-team tournament to make it to the Super Eight stage. The Proteas are unbeaten and have won all three matches they have played. They have six points from three games.
Nepal lost to the Dutch in their opening game and sit in the fourth position with one point. But they still have a chance to progress to the Super Eight with a win over South Africa and then Bangladesh on Monday.
