One will stay that way when they face each other on Monday. The West Indies and Bangladesh are 1-1 each while Scotland has dropped its first two matches in the group stage. England entered the tournament ranked No. 2 in the ICC world rankings, with South Africa coming in at No. 6. Sharjah Cricket Stadium hosts the match. England played its first group stage match in the facility while the Proteas won its opener at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

England opened play on Saturday with a 21-run win over Bangladesh, 118 and 7 to 97 and 7. Danni Wyatt-Hodge powered the attack with 41 runs off 40 balls, with Maia Bouchier adding 23 off 13. Linsey Smith took two wickets and recorded a maiden in her four overs, posting a 2.75 economy rate. Charlie Dean also took a pair of wickets.

South Africa surprised West Indies, the world’s No. 5-ranked side, by 10 wickets on Friday, taking a 119 and 0 to 118 and 6 decision. Captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits were the offense, each recording fifties. Wolvaardt notched 59 runs off 55 balls and Brits chipped in 57 off 52. Ayabonga Khaka had a maiden in three overs, Nonkululeko Mlaba took four wickets and Marizanne Kapp’s four overs produced a 3.50 economy rate.

South Africa topped England in the semifinals at the 2023 World Cup in Cape Town before losing to Australia in the Final. England is 19-5 all-time against the Proteas in T20Is and Heather Knight captains the squad for the World Cup.
