The two teams kicked off their action in the competition on Monday, when the final four groups played their first matches of the final round. Saint Kitts and Nevis got off to a rough start, falling in a 3-1 finish against Cuba to begin play in Group F. Franklyn Mitcham actually put Saint Kitts and Nevis in the lead in the 43rd minute of the match, but Lazaro Díaz helped fuel the Cuba comeback with goals in the 76th and 83rd minutes. Finally, Cristian Bravo sealed the three points for the Cuban national team with his goal in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Chase Adams led the United States to a historic 22-0 victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands on Monday.

The young Columbus Crew 2 forward made history by scoring 10 times in the match, setting a new record for any U.S. player in World Cup qualifying, for both men’s and women’s competitions.

The match also marked the largest margin of victory ever recorded by an American team in World Cup Qualifying at any level.

Adams scored three goals between minutes eight and 13, before scoring another in the 19th. Then, the American forward notched another three between the 31st and 38th minutes against the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Finally, Adams scored his eighth, ninth and 10th goals in the 55th, 75th and 77th minutes of the match respectively.
