Japan needs a win over host Seychelles on Monday and help from Belarus to assure advancing to the knockout stage at the Beach Soccer World Cup.

Japan (1-1, 3 points) enters the final day of Group A play at the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup with a leg up on a berth in the quarterfinals. But the Japanese need to beat host Seychelles (0-2, 0 points) on Monday at The Paradise Arena in Victoria, Seychelles, and hope Belarus beats Guatemala β€” or doesn’t lose by a large margin β€” to advance. The Pirates, ranked No. 76 in the world, still have a chance to advance as well with a victory by a significant margin and a loss by Guatemala. Japan came to the tournament with the world’s No. 12 ranking and has a +1 goal differential in group play. Guatemala is at -3 and Seychelles’ differential is -4.
