Canada comes off an opening-game shutout as it takes on Switzerland in a Group A matchup on Friday

Canada (1-0-0, 3 points) scored three first-period goals and cruised to a shutout victory in its Group A opener on Thursday at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship in České Budějovice, Czechia. On Friday, the Canadians are right back at it when they face Switzerland (0-1-0, 0 points) at Budvar Arena. The Swiss are still looking for their first goal of the tournament after being blanked on Wednesday by host Czechia. All five teams from Group A are guaranteed passage to the quarterfinals, so group play for those five teams is about determining seeding.
