Co-host Sweden looks to remain unbeaten in Group A when it takes on Latvia on Wednesday in Stockholm.

Sweden (3-0-0, 9 points), the co-host of the 2025 IIHF World Championship, along with Denmark, looks to remain perfect in Group A play and keep pace with unbeaten Canada when it takes on Latvia (2-1-0, 6 points) on Wednesday at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. The Latvians are third in Group A after bouncing back from a thumping at the hands of Canada with a victory on Tuesday. Sweden topped arch-rival Finland on Monday in its quest for a second straight medal at the Worlds.

Latvia unleashed three goals in a span of 3:33 in the second period en route to a 5-2 victory over winless Slovenia on Wednesday. After Slovenia grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the period, Kristiāns Rubīns of Czech club Škoda Plzeň, Finnish HPK forward Anrī Ravinskis and Mārtiņš Dzierkals of Swedish club Skellefteå lit the lamp for the Latvians, with Dans Ločmelis of the AHL’s Providence Bruins adding another goal in the second to make it a 4-2 game. Eduards Tralmaks of Rytíři Kladno in Czechia closed the scoring with 5:44 remaining.

Sweden outshot Finland 41-19 with Jacob Markström of the New Jersey Devils making 18 saves in its 2-1 win on Monday. Leo Carlsson of the Anaheim Ducks got the Swedes on the board 4:45 into the game and Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin made it 2-0 at the 7:23 mark of the second period.

Brodin and Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers lead Sweden with three goals each, while Boston Bruins forward Elias Lindholm has a team-high four points. Markström has won both of his starts with a 0.50 goals-against average and .971 save percentage. Ločmelis tops the Latvians with three goals, while Tralmaks has piled up five points in three games. Kristers Gudļevski of Germany’s Fischtown Pinguins is unbeaten in two starts with a 1.50 GAA and .919 save percentage.
