Latvia looks for a second win in Group A at the IIHF World Championship, while Slovenia needs a spark on Tuesday.

Latvia (1-1-0, 3 points) looks to bounce back from a drubbing on Sunday at the 2025 IIHF World Championship as it takes on Slovenia (0-2-0, 0 points) in a Group A matchup on Tuesday at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The Slovenians, back at the World Championship after their relegation after the 2023 tournament, also lost on Sunday and have scored just one goal in their two losses. Captain Robert Sabolič of Slovenian club Olimpija and Rok Macuh, who playes for Olomouc in Czechia, recorded assists on the goal.

Latvia struck 7:05 into the game on Sunday when Eduards Tralmaks of Czech club Rytíři Kladno scored, but Canada responded with seven unanswered goals in a 7-1 romp, outshooting the Latvians 37-17. Slovenia has never finished higher than 13th at the World Championship, doing so in both 2002 and 2005. Latvia’s bronze medal in 2023 marked its best finish in the tournament, topping its three seventh place runs in 1997, 2004 and 2009.
