Switzerland needs a win over Kazakhstan to advance to the knockout round at the World Junior Championship

With Kazakhstan (0-2-1, 1 point) picking up a point with an overtime loss on Monday, Switzerland (0-3-0, 0 points) finds itself backed into a corner as the two teams meet in their Group B finale at TD Place in Ottawa on Tursday afternoon. Switzerland needs a win of any sort, regulation or overtime, to avoid falling into the relegation playoff against Germany on Thursday. Should the Swiss win, they would claim the final spot in the quarterfinals and the Kazakhs would face the Germans for the right to remain in the top division for next year’s tournament in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
