Carlos Alcaraz and Barbara Krejcikova head into the 2025 Wimbledon Championships as the defending champions.

The first round of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships kicks off the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz won the men’s singles tournament for the second year in a row, while the women’s draw saw a new champion for the seventh straight year. This year starts off with some of the biggest names in the game kicking off the action with ninth seed Daniil Medvedev and 12th seed Frances Tiafoe in the men’s draw. Over in the women’s draw, 14th seed Elina Svitolina and 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko. All four of those talents are seeking their first Wimbledon Championship.

Defending women’s singles champion Barbara Krejcikova starts her path to become the first repeat women’s champion since Serena Williams in 2016. She plays her first round match against unseeded Alexandra Eala on Tuesday.

Alcaraz takes on unseeded Fabio Fogini on center court to kick-off Wimbledon on day one. He is looking to win his sixth Grand Slam title and third in a row here at Wimbledon. 

With another win this year Alcaraz will become the seventh men’s singles champion in hte Open Era to win three Wimbledon titles. He would also join Novak Djokovic, Rodger Federer, Pete Sampras, and Bjorn Borg as back-to-back-to-back champions.
