The 2026 Australian Open rolls into the third round with some of the top contenders in the tournament in action. Novak Djokovic, a 10-time Australian Open champion, takes on Botic van de Zandschulp. Over his historic career, Djokovic has advanced to at least the fourth round at the Australian Open 17 times. He has made the semifinals in six straight tournaments with four wins since 2019. Also in action in the men’s draw is second-seed and two-time defending Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner. The man Sinner defeated in the finals last year, Alexander Zverev, is also in action in the third round to start the third round.

Zverev is the three-seed this year. He has dropped one set in each of his first two matches. In the third round, Zverev takes on 26th-seed Cameron Norrie. Over the years, these two stars have played six matches, with Zverev winning all six, including a Round of 16 win in 2024 at the Australian Open.

Iga Swiatek is the top-seeded player in the women’s draw to start the day. She is the second-seed and in search of her first win at the Australian Open. Swiatek has six Grand Slam titles, four at the French Open and one each at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

The morning starts with a match between 12th-seed Elina Svitolina and 23rd-seed Diana Shnaider. Last year, Svitolina made the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and is in search of her first Grand Slam title.
