The American East Tournament comes down to the top two seeds and a rubber match between the best in the conference. Top-seeded Albany (26-5) heads into the championship game riding a seven game winning streak dating back to the regular season. A winning streak that started after losing for just the second time in conference to second-seeded Vermont (20-12). During the regular season the Great Danes and Catamounts played twice, splitting the two games. The Great Danes won at home near the beginning of conference play and the Catamounts came out on top at home just over a month ago. Both games were decided by just nine points each.

In the Great Danes 64-55 win they were led by senior Kayla Cooper with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. Cooper has spent five seasons with the Great Danes, is set to play in her 138th game and third American East Tournament Championships Game.

The Catamounts evened the season series with a 59-50 win led by a 22-10 final period. Anna Olson led the way with 22 points on 10-11 shooting from the field. Olson, much like Cooper, has been a staple for the Catamounts for five seasons.

This is a rematch of the 2023 American East Tournament Championship Game. In that game the Catamounts edged the Great Danes 38-36 in a defensive rock fight. Cooper led the Great Danes with 12 points in the loss. Olson was the Catamounts second leading scorer with nine points and 16 rebounds.
