The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets close out their three game series on Wednesday.
The New York Mets (9-8) are rolling, having won three straight and five of the last six games overall. After an 0-5 start to the season New York has turned things around. Now they have the opportunity to close out this series on Wednesday with the Pittsburgh Pirates (11-7) with a sweep. To close out the series New York has veteran right-hander Luis Severino (1-1) in his fourth start of the season. In his first three starts Severino has 17 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched. He has been steady allowing just five runs, one a piece in his last two outings.
The New York offense has been steady this series with 13 hits and nine total runs. They have been eating up the gaps with five runs scored on doubles so far in this series. Neither team has gone yard with a home run or shown their full potential on the offensive end in the first two games of this series heading into today.
