This game is usually played in Philadelphia, most recently at Lincoln Financial Field where the Eagles play. This game is usually the last game of the regular season in college football getting its own Saturday to spotlight these teams. This game usually has fans in the stands. Of course this game is being played in the year of our Lord 2020 so the usual won't be happening.

Due to new COVID-19 restrictions in Pennsylvania, the game was moved to Michie Stadium the home of Army in West Point, New York. This is the first time in 77 years that Army will host Navy in their annual matchup. While there won't be any fans in the stands, Army did announce some good news for the game. Nearly 10,000 Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps of Cadets will be in attendance. Army announced that among those fans, they have invited the first Black varsity college football player Gary Steele. The 74-year-old retired colonel first played in 1966. It will be a great reprieve to see a hero who paved so much ground in such a tumultuous year and is reason enough to watch.
Also, the 121st meeting between these historic institutions will be very competitive. Navy is leading this rivalry 61–52–7 all time but Army is playing great this season sitting at 7-2 rebounding from a 5-8 season. Two of Army's biggest games have been postponed, one against BYU and the other against Air Force who they will play next week.
They haven't had many signature wins getting beat handedly by No. 14 Cincinnati but other than Tulane, have beat all of their other opponents decisively overall. They've been doing it on a consistent running game and averaging 346 yards a game with 296 of those coming on the ground. If Navy can stop the run at all, they could have a shot in this one even with a 3-6 record. Army has completely no passing game whatsoever.
Navy has a more balanced attack but they are averaging more yards on the ground than in the air with 292 ypg overall. The biggest problem is that the are giving up more than 400 ypg. It doesn't help that they have lost their last four games that they've played with three games postponed in the middle of those losses. Having three weeks off hasn't built the consistency Navy has needed to build a winning season after they finished No. 20 last year winning the Liberty Bowl against Kansas State. This one is pretty even on paper though so hopefully we get another classic rivalry game.
