About the only time we ever see two games on Monday night is on the opening week of the season. Like with most everything we've seen this year, the norm is thrown out the window. The regularly scheduled Monday Night Football game between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers has been moved back in the evening to make room for the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs to resume their postponed matchup due to several positive COVID-19 cases on both teams.
Besides the time change, the Falcons-Packers game should proceed as normal. Therefore, we will preview the game as such. The Falcons come into this matchup blowing two-score leads in the last two games against the Cowboys and Bears. This statement seems to sum up the last year for everyone. You have to imagine even Falcons fans can relate.

The Atlanta offense has actually played very well the entire season. The team has scored at least 25 points in every matchup and Matt Ryan is still playing at an elite level, ranked third in the NFL in yardage (961 yds) and tied for fifth in touchdowns (7 TDs). While not at his peak-2017 levels with the Rams, Todd Gurley has a very respectable 197 yards through three games. The Falcons will need him to get in the end-zone more if they are going to compete with this Packers team.
That's because the Packers are going to hang a number on this Falcons' defense. Atlanta's defense, something head coach Dan Quinn was brought in to improve, is ranked last in the league in points, touchdowns allowed and red zone touchdowns allowed. In almost every other category they rank in the bottom five.
Quinn was on the hot seat last year after going 1-7 in their first eight games. They only lost two the rest of the way and Quinn kept his job. He was the defensive coordinator and head coach last year and rightly lost his defensive coordinator title this year. Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the legendary Legion of Boom defense that blew out the Broncos in 2013 for the franchise's first Super Bowl victory. That defensive success has largely not translated in the ATL. This team under Quinn is now mostly associated with blowing huge leads after being on the wrong end of the biggest Super Bowl comeback in NFL history.
It is staggering how Quinn still has his job and the calls for it aren't going to get any quieter after this game with the Packers. Atlanta had Kyle Shanahan as Offensive Coordinator and Matt LaFleur as QB Coach on that team that made it to the Super Bowl in 2017. Now both are running circles around Quinn & Co.
LaFleur is now 16-3 as Packers head coach heading into this game and has seemed to revive Aaron Rodgers talents after they went stagnant under new Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Green Bay has dominated their opponents in each of their first three games. The lowest amount of points they scored were last week against the New Orleans Saints with 37. Facing this Atlanta defense who can't hang on to any lead, the Packers should have their way in the Monday Night matchup and stroll their way to joining the Seattle Seahawks as the only undefeated teams in the NFC.
