No. 18 South Carolina (20-5) has won six straight games, including four straight in the Southeastern Conference, and is 4-2 as it hits the road this weekend for a three-game series at No. 16 Alabama (19-6). The Crimson Tide is 2-4 in the SEC after being swept at Georgia last weekend. The Gamecocks returned to the NCAA tournament last season after a one-year absence and advanced to the super-regionals, with Alabama following the same path under interim coach Jason Jackson after coach Brad Bohannon was fired and received a 15-year show-cause penalty in the wake of a gambling scandal. South Carolina comes into the series after sweeping then-No. 3 Vanderbilt last weekend.

The Gamecocks picked up a non-conference win on Tuesday, beating visiting Presbyterian 19-14. Dalton Reeves hit two three-run homers and Ethan Petry was 3-for-4 with five RBI. Kennedy Jones slashes .362/.494/.667 while Petry had 12 homers and 26 RBI.

The Tide beat Belmont on Tuesday 6-3 in a game played at Huntsville, Alabama. TJ McCants had a solo homer and Kade Snell drove in two runs while also pitching three scoreless innings to start the game. Gage Miller is hitting .429/.500/.847, shares the team lead with 11 home runs and leads the club with 34 RBI. McCants also has 11 homers to go with 10 steals.

Freshman left-hander Zane Adams starts Thursday for Alabama. In seven appearances, five of them starts, he has a 4.26 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 19 innings. South Carolina gives the ball to junior right-hander Eli Jones. In six starts, Jones has a 2.35 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 30.2 innings.
