The Badminton World Federation Tour heads to southern Asia for the 2024 Thailand Open on Friday.
The best in the world in badminton come together for the 2024 BWF Thailand Open this week. This week the individual and team tournaments have already paired down the fields to the quarterfinals, with the semifinals and championship matches to come. In the men’s singles draw the top-seed was upset in the first round opening the door for second-seeded Kodai Naraoka to make a run at his first title in the Thailand Open. Over in the women’s singles draw, seven of the top seeds remain in contention for the title including top-seeded Han Yue who is also seeking her first title and China’s first in the women’s singles draw since 2019.

Also in the mix in women’s singles draw are second-seeded Wang Zhiyi taking on seventh-seeded Yeo Jia Min, third-seeded Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Cahyaningsih vs. sixth-seeded Supanida Katethong and eighth-seeded Pornpawee Chochuwong looking to win the 2024 Thailand Open.
In the doubles draws the top-seeded men’s team remains in India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the top-seeded women’s team in Thailand’s Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai, and the top-seeded mixed doubles team, also from Thailand in Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
Overall the remaining players in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Thailand Open are dominated by two countries. Three of the eight remaining competitors in the men’s singles draw are from China or Thailand and five of the eight in the women’s singles draw. The other countries represented in the quarterfinals are Chinese Taipei (two), Indonesia (2), India (1), Japan (1), Malaysia (1) and Singapore.
