Top-seeded Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattachai of Thailand open play on Court 1 Wednesdayin mixed doubles play at the Badminton World Federation Tour’s Thailand Open in Bangkok. The world’s third-ranked pair takes on Roy King Yap and Valeree Siow of Malaysia in the second round. Puavaranukroh and Taerattachai beat Korea’s Kim Young Hyuk and Lee Yu Lim 21-17, 21-10 on Tuesday, while Yap and Siow posted a 21-19, 21-17 victory over Hong Kong’s Lui Chun Wai and Fu Chi Tan. The BWF Tour returned to action this week for the first time since the Madrid Spain Masters in late March.

Two men’s singles matches follow. Japan’s Koki Watanabe battles Lu Guang Zu of China before fourth-seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand takes on Malaysia’s Leong Jun Hao. In the women’s singles draw, No. 4 seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand faces Gao Fang Jie.
Top-seeded women’s doubles team Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai of Thailand matches up against China’s Keng Shu Liang and Zhang Chi before a men’s doubles draw between Malaysia’s Junaldi Arif and Yap and Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard of Denmark.
