The Fredericksburg Nationals and Myrtle Beach Pelicans will meet Wednesday afternoon in game two of their series.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Fredericksburg Nationals will continue their road trip in South Carolina with game two against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Pelican Ballpark. The Pelicans are currently in last place in the Carolina League South standings with a record of 13-20 and are trailing leading Fayetteville by 4.5 games. In last night’s series opener, the Pelicans fell 5-3 after taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Nationals put up four runs in the top of the second and although Myrtle Beach answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning, that was where the scoring stopped. Leonel Espinoza, Alfonsin Rosario and Fabian Pertuz each brought runs in for the Pelicans to lead the offense. Erian Rodriguez took the loss on the mound with 3.2 innings of work in which he gave up three earned runs.

The Nationals are currently in second place in the Carolina League North standings and trail leading Carolina by just 0.5 games with a record of 23-11 so far. Cristhian Vaquero led the team offensively with two RBIs from a double in the second. Everett Cooper III, Armando Cruz and Brandon Pimentel also assisted with offensive play, each bringing a run home in the win. Mason Denaburg remains undefeated on the mound this season after earning the win, only giving up two hits in his three innings of work.
