On Wednesday morning, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and the Worcester Red Sox will continue their International League East series at Polar Park. The RailRiders are currently in first place in the standings with a record of 27-12 and have a four game lead over Syracuse and Buffalo. Last night, the teams met in the series opener and them went in the favor of the Red Sox in an 8-4 victory. Caleb Durbin, Everson Pereira, T.J. Rumfield and Jose Rojas each finished the game with one RBI apiece and Pereira led at the plate going 3-for-5. Despite the strong offensive performances, the RailRiders came up short after Will Warren gave up eight earned runs in four innings of work to take the loss on the mound.

The Red Sox come into Wednesday’s game after improving to 19-21 with last night’s win, which puts them in sixth place in the International League East standings. Mark A. Contreras powered the offense with three RBIs from a double and a home run. Also bringing runs home in the victory were Enmanuel Valdez, Tyler Heineman, Niko Kavadas and Eddy Alvarez. Jason Alexander earned the win on the mound with five innings of work in which he struck out six batters and gave up three earned runs.

Clayton Beeter will take the mound on Wednesday morning for the RailRiders, while the Red Sox will dig into their bullpen to give the start to one of their up-and-coming pitchers with the hopes of earning their second win in a row.
