Meanwhile, the Aces were sitting in third place with an overall record of 2-3 so far in the campaign. Reno opened the regular season with an 8-1 finish over San Francisco on March 24. That was followed by a narrow 3-2 victory over Salt Lake at home on March 30. Then, the Aces beat Salt Lake again 1-0, before losing their first game of the season 3-2. Both of those games were played on March 31.
