How to Watch Astros at Nationals: Stream MLB Live, TV Channel

The Houston Astros try to get back on track when Justin Verlander makes his season debut tonight in the series opener against the Washington Nationals.

The Houston Astros have not had the start anyone imagined in 2024 after they’ve dominated the sport for a better part of a decade. Houston is just 6-14 and in last place in the AL West. They are coming off a three-game sweep against the Atlanta Braves after ending a four-game losing streak and winning the series over the weekend against their rival Texas Rangers. The first two games weren’t close against Atlanta but the Astros closed the gap in the finale on Wednesday but the outcome was ultimately the same. The Braves won 5-4 after Marcell Ozuna hit a go-ahead single in the 10th after he hit his major league-leading eighth homer in the second inning. It was the first time Atlanta swept a team in the state of Texas since 2003. The Astros ended up losing a two-run lead and are now five games out of first in the division.

There is good news on the horizon as future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander will be making his season debut giving the Astros the -170 line in the opener against the Washington Nationals tonight. Verlander opened the season on the 15-day IL with shoulder fatigue.

The Nationals won’t go down without a fight because they will be starting one of their best in MacKenzie Gore. The lefty is off to a great start this season with a 2-0 record and a 2.81 ERA. Washington is steadily improving from last season and is coming off a big series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Nationals shutout the NL West leading Dodgers 2-0 on Wednesday to take the series finale. CJ Abrams hit a two-run shot in the first at-bat of the game and neither team would score again. We might be in for a similar pitchers duel in the series opener tonight.
