The United States is on a mission when Pool B play kicks off, when it faces off against Brazil on Friday night in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This is Game 2 of Pool B play and will be preceded by Mexico and Great Britain at 1:00 p.m. ET. Both games will be played from Daikin Park in Houston, TX, home of MLB’s Astros. The United States will have a tremendous option as its starter for the first game of the tournament against Brazil in righty Logan Webb. Webb has become an ace with the San Francisco Giants, making the All-Star Game the past two seasons. He won the Gold Glove last season, along with being the NL strikeout leader. Webb went 15-11 in 2025 with a 3.22 ERA, 224 strikeouts, and a 3.8 WAR in 207 innings. Team USA is trying to rebound from its tantalizingly close-to-a-championship performance in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. The United States finished second to the ultimate champion, Japan, when Shohei Ohtani struck out his former teammate, Mike Trout, in an epic final game. Team USA has been in all five WBC tournaments and is ranked No. 3 in the WBSC world rankings, behind Japan and Chinese Taipei. The United States still has the best odds among all 20 teams to not only win Pool B at -800 but also win the entire tournament at -110.
