Top-seeded USC looks to move on to the semifinals against California in the Pac-12 Championships today.
The second match of the Winners Bracket semifinals of the Pac-12 Championship in beach volleyball has top-seeded USC three wins away from a fifth title. The Trojans have won four of the seven championships in the history of this tournament and look like a team ready to win a fifth this season. Up next is fourth-seeded California who has the opportunity to pull off the upset to advance in the Winners Bracket. Last season the Golden Bears won this side of the bracket before falling in the championship match to UCLA. One of those wins for the Golden Bears came in an upset over the Trojans in this very same position, the Winners Bracket semifinals.

In the tournament win last season the Golden Bears won in five sets 3-2 to advance to the championship match. Since then the teams have played just once with the Trojans getting their win back in another five set match winning 3-2 during the regular season.
Both teams are coming off strong wins in the first round of the tournament not dropping a set and cruising to wins. The Trojans came out on fire winning the first set 21-10, 21-11 setting the tone against Utah. They went on to not drop a set in the 3-0 win with the fourth and fifth sets going unfinished.
For the Golden Bears, they defeated fifth-seeded Washington in a similar, but less dominant manner. In their win they also did not drop a set to cruise to the 3-0 win setting up this rematch from last season’s tournament, but played a much more competitive match to get here.
