Top-seeded USC takes on LMU in the college beach volleyball NCAA Tournament quarterfinals today.
The quarterfinals of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in beach volleyball start off with the best team in the country in action. Top-seeded USC (34-5) is challenged by eighth-seeded LMU (28-13) in an all-California quarterfinal. Of the eight teams in the quarterfinals six are from California with four coming from the historic Pac-12 that is disbanding after this season. The Trojans have won three straight matches between taking home their fifth Pac-12 Championship and the start to the NCAA Tournament. They are the clear favorites to win the championship this season which would be their fourth in a row and sixth overall since the tournament began back in 2016.

They take on a Lions team that could be a tough out and will give the Trojans all they can take here in the quarterfinals. The Lions have won six straight matches between the regular season, WCC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.
In the first round the Lions came out on top against ninth-seeded Hawaii 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Lions also defeated the Warriors in the season-opening Kahanamoku Kickoff Classic, then faced off with the Trojans who won both matches head-to-head with the Lions to serve as a potential preview of today.
For the Trojans, they defeated 16th seeded North Florida (3-0) for a second straight straight sets win over one of the best teams in the country. The winner of this match will move on to play the winner of the second quarterfinal of the day between fourth-seeded Florida State, a three-time runner-up in this tournament or fifth-seeded Cal Poly, which would be another all-California matchup.
