Unbeaten Keyshawn Davis lost his WBO lightweight title at Friday’s weigh-in, opening the door for Edwin de los Santos.

Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs), expecting to defend his WBO lightweight title on Saturday night at Scope Arena in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, instead lost the belt on the scales on Friday. Davis weighed in a whopping 4.3 pounds over the 135-pound limit and was stripped of the championship. The door is open for challenger Edwin de los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) to claim the belt since he made weight on Friday. It is a stunning twist at the top of a nine-bout card in Norfolk. Davis claimed the WBO title on Feb. 14 with a fourth-round knockout of Denys Berinchyk at Madison Square Garden Theater. de los Santos returns after more than a year away from the ring following a loss via unanimous decision to Shakur Stevenson on Nov. 16, 2023, for the vacant WBC lightweight title.

The other bout on the two-fight main card features unbeaten lightweight Abdullah Mason (18-0, 16 KOs) taking on Jeremia Nakathila (26-4, 21 KOs). Mason kept his perfect record alive on April 5 in Las Vegas when Carlos Ornelas retired after the sixth round. Nakathila has won his last three fights, stopping Tafadzwa Mushando via TKO 2:24 into the first round on Nov. 16, 2024, in Windhoek, Namibia. The co-main event is scheduled for 10 rounds.

Davis has won his last two fights by knockout. In addition to stopping Berinchyk in February, he dropped Gustavo Daniel Lemos 1:08 into the second round at Scope Arena on Nov. 8, defending his WBC USA and WBO inter-continental titles while claiming the vacant IBF inter-continental belt.

de los Santos’ last win came via a 10-round unanimous decision over Joseph Adorno in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on July 8, 2023, as he defended his WBC Continental Americas championship. The main event between Davis and de los Santos is scheduled for 12 rounds.
