How to Watch Monday Night Football: Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots

It's not weird to type that the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots will have nothing to play for at the end of the season. Usually the Pats are running away with the division and the Bills are there to pad their stats or give Tom Brady some rest at the end of the season.

It is weird to type that the Bills will have the opportunity to rest and prepare for the playoffs since they won the division for the first time since 1995. It's the Patriots who will be going home early as they will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008. It's probably no coincidence that in both of those years, they didn't have Tom Brady for the entire season.

The Bills are playing for seeding at this point. The Chiefs, Steelers and Bills have all clinched their divisions. Kansas City has wrapped up the top-seed overall in a win against the Falcons in Week 16. The Steelers stopped their three-game losing streak and beat the Colts and they currently have the second seed in the playoffs. Buffalo beat Pittsburgh last week and if they can win out and the Steelers lose next week, the Bills will have the second seed. They currently sit at 11-3 and the Steelers are at 12-3 so this game against New England is important.

For the Patriots, Cam Newton is probably playing for his future in New England. Bill Belichick may have already made his decision on the QB, but if he plays well in the last two games, it may be enough to extend his stay. Newton was playing well until he tested positive for COVID-19 early in the season. Ever since, he has had trouble with turnovers and deep passes. Although, he has been excellent on the ground as always scoring many rushing touchdowns. This game has many implications for the futures of both franchises.

But maybe the weirdest thing of all to type is that this is the last Monday Night Football Game of the season. Even with how crazy this season has been, it has still flown by. Next week is the final week of the season and is without a Monday game scheduled. The playoffs will be here before we know it. Happy New Year everyone. Here's to a better 2021.
