The Aggies moved up to the No. 1 ranking this weekend due to Alabama’s victories over former No. 1 Arkansas and due to their own sweep of No. 6 Vanderbilt. The team is now 33-4 overall and 11-4 in conference play which has the Aggies sitting in second place in the SEC West behind Arkansas. Texas A&M has now won give games in a row with the most recent being a mid-week 15-5 victory over Air Force in seven innings. Jace LaViolette led the offense once more with a triple and two home runs that brought in a team-high five RBI. Brad Rudis pitched for 1.1 innings to pick up his second win of the season with one strikeout.
When Texas A&M and Alabama met last year in conference play, the series went in favor of the Crimson Tide as they rallied to win the second and third games after the Aggies took the first.
