On Friday evening, Notre Dame will host No. 20 Clemson at Melissa Cook Stadium to kick off the penultimate ACC series of the season before postseason play begins. The Fighting Irish come into the weekend with an overall record of 23-18 and a conference record of 7-11 which puts them in eighth place in the ACC standings. The team has lost four games in a row with the most recent being 5-3 loss to Indiana earlier in the week. The Fighting Irish’s runs came from Rachel Allen and Karina Gaskins, each with home runs early in the game. Alexis Laudenslager took the loss in the circle after pitching 6.1 innings and giving up three earned runs.

The Tigers are currently in fourth place in the ACC standings with an overall record of 29-14 and a conference record of 11-7 so far. Earlier this week, Clemson hosted Winthrop, winning 4-0 in front of a home crowd of 1500. Maddie Moore finished the game with two RBI to lead the Clemson offense while the other two runs were unearned. Brooke McCubbin improved to 9-2 on the season with a complete game in which she struck out six batters and only gave up four hits.
The last time Notre Dame and Clemson met was during the 2022 season at Clemson and resulted in a 2-1 series win for the Tigers.
