The Buffalo Sabres return home to host the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday with time running out to end their 13-year playoff drought.

The Buffalo Sabres (34-33-5, 73 points) are eight points out of the final Eastern Conference wild card spot with 10 games remaining and three teams between them and the Washington Capitals. The Sabres return from a 2-3-0 road trip to open a five-game homestand on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators (30-36-4, 64 points). Ottawa has won back-to-back games but is nearing elimination from the race with 12 games left. Buffalo hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2011 and last won a postseason series when they reached the Eastern Conference Final in 2007. The Senators last postseason bid came in 2017 and they are 19-21-4 since coach Jacques Martin returned behind the bench on Dec. 18 after D.J. Smith was fired.
