In Canadian League Football on Saturday night, the Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0) host the BC Lions (1-2) at Mosaic Stadium in the lone game of the day. Saskatchewan comes in at 3-0, with an early lead in the league’s West Division. Under second-year head coach Corey Mace and offensive coordinator Marc Mueller the team has been one of the best offensive teams in the league to start the season, and entered the week ranking second, averaging 32.7 points per game.

Leading the way for the Roughriders is veteran quarterback Trevor Harris. He ranks second in the league with 806 passing yards through three weeks. That’s while completing 72.5% of his passes with five touchdowns.

Saskatchewan has both the second-leading passer and rusher through three weeks. A.J. Ouellette’s 208 yards and 6.3 yards per carry both rank second among qualified backs.

Saskatchewan’s hot start hasn’t come without close games. All three have been decided by one score. They opened with a 31-26 win over the Ottawa Redblacks, followed by a 28-23 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and then picked up a 39-32 win in a shootout against the Toronto Argonauts last week.

Meanwhile, BC is trying to get back in the win column for the first time since the season opener. The Lions won Week 1, beating the Edmonton Elks 31-14. However they dropped the last two weeks, losing back-to-back games to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

These two teams last met in the playoffs last year. Saskatchewan beat BC 28-19 in the West Conference Semifinal.
