Matt Cross and No. 6 seed SMU will take on Chase Hunter and No. 3 seed Clemson in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Thursday night.

No. 6-seeded SMU will take on No. 3-seeded Clemson in a quarterfinal matchup in the T. Rowe Price ACC Tournament at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday afternoon. The Mustangs are now 23-9 overall this season and one of just four teams in the conference, including the three nationally ranked teams, without double-digit losses on the season. They also finished 13-7 against teams in the ACC in their first year in the conference. They ended tied with Wake Forest and UNC and got the last seed of the three.

They opened up play in the second round against a Syracuse team who had just beaten Florida State on Tuesday. They came away with a 73-53 win in that game, advancing to the quarterfinals. Matt Cross and Chuck Harris tied for the team-high with 12 points each. Cross also had nine rebounds, while Harris had six rebounds and two assists in the win.

The No. 3-seeded Tigers, who are also the No. 10 ranked team in the country, finished their regular season with a 26-5 record overall and an 18-2 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They ended tied with Louisville, but they lost the tiebreaker and ended at No. 3. This is their first game of the tournament based on the ladder bracket after finishing the regular season with a win against Virginia Tech by almost 20 points.

The frontcourt of Ian Schieffelin and Viktor Lakhin have been dominant this season. Schieffelin is averaging 12.9 points and 9.3 rebounds, while Lakhin is averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Chase Hunter leads the backcourt and the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
