16-seed Cal takes on No. 8 seed Wake Forest at the ACC Baseball Tournament on Wednesday.

To borrow a poker metaphor, Cal (23-30) arrived at the ACC Baseball Tournament with a chip and a chair. The 16-seed in the 16-team event, the Golden Bears stunned No. 9 seed Miami on Tuesday to earn a date in the second round with Wake Forest (36-19), the No. 8 seed in the tournament at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday morning. The Demon Deacons are chasing a fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, playing in the College World Series in 2023. Cal, playing in its first ACC tournament, hasn’t been to the NCAAs since 2019.
