Alabama battles Southern Miss on Saturday afternoon in an elimination game of the Hattiesburg Regional

The Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in a win-or-go-home game. The Golden Eagles were shocked by Columbia in the first game and lost 11-4. The Golden Eagles received the 16th seed in the tournament and are hosting the regional, but it didn’t matter on Friday and they took a surprising loss. They will now be fighting for their season against a good Crimson Tide team on Saturday. The Golden Eagles gave up a run in the top of the first and never led in the game. They did cut the lead to one in the bottom of the third, but Columbia answered right back with four runs in the fourth and the Golden Eagles would never get closer than three the rest of the way. They gave up 18 hits and only had five of their own in the upset loss. They will need to have a better pitching performance on Saturday if they want to stay alive.
