Arizona State and Grand Canyon will meet in Phoenix on Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup in college baseball action.
The Grand Canyon Antelopes will welcome the Arizona State Sun Devils to Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark on Tuesday night as the teams square-off in a mid-week matchup. The Antelopes come into Tuesday’s non-conference game with an overall record of 25-16 and a conference record of 10-5 for a spot in second place in the WAC standings. The team’s most recent game was played against Utah Tech on Saturday in a rubber match that resulted in a 9-1 loss. The team’s only run came off the bat of Michael Diaz with an RBI triple in the seventh inning, but with the Antelopes already trailing by six runs, it wasn’t enough to make a dent in the deficit. Gunnar Penzkover earned his first loss of the season after giving up three earned runs in 4.1 innings of work.

The Sun Devils are sitting in fifth place in the Big 12 standings with a conference record of 11-7 and an overall record of 25-15. Over the weekend, the team hosted Texas Tech and earned wins in the first two games, but lost 12-8 in the series finale. Jaden Alba pitched three innings in the start after pitching for three innings and gave up six earned runs while striking out five batters. Kyle Walker and Landon Hairston each brought in two runs to lead the offense. Walker closed out the game with a two-run shot to center field, while Hairston hit an RBI triple in the first and an RBI double in the eighth. Despite some strong offensive play, the team came up just short to miss out on the sweep.
Grand Canyon and Arizona State have met a total of 10 times in their history and the Sun Devils hold a 7-3 lead in the all-time series. The teams met twice last season and split the results, with Arizona State earning a 9-8 win in the first meeting and Grand Canyon earning a 5-3 win in the second.
