Texas Tech and Cincinnati vie for the right to take on top-seed West Virginia on Wednesday at the Big 12 Baseball Tournament at Globe Life Park.

Cincinnati (31-23) comes into the Big 12 Baseball Tournament as the No. 8 seed and takes on ninth-seed Texas Tech (20-32) in a first round matchup on Wednesday at Globe Life Park. The winner advances to Thursday’s quarterfinals and a matchup against No. 1 seed West Virginia. The Bearcats are looking for their first NCAA tournament bid since 2019 and their first since joining the Big 12 in 2023. The Red Raiders missed the NCAAs last season after seven consecutive appearances and reached the College World Series three times in four years from 2016-19.

Cincinnati took two of three last weekend from visiting Kansas State, losing the finale on Saturday. Kerrington Cross powers the offense with a .414/.548/.681 slash line to go with 12 home runs and a team-high 49 RBIs. Landyn Vidourek leads the club with 14 home runs to go with 37 stolen bases in 38 attempts.

Texas Tech salvaged the finale of its series at BYU on Saturday, but dropped two of three in Provo. Logan Hughes comes into the tournament with a .333/.415/.710 slash line and team-bests of 19 home runs and 58 RBIs. Kyeler Thompson is a perfect 29-of-29 in stolen-base attempts.

Sophomore right-hander Nathan Taylor (5-2) is the likely starter for the Bearcats, coming in with a 3.65 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 13 starts and 74 innings to go with 75 strikeouts. Mac Heuer (2-3), also a sophomore righty, has a 6.18 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 13 starts for the Red Raiders, working 51 innings.
