The Huskies punched their ticket to Saturday’s title game with an 11-2 victory over Xavier in Friday’s semifinal elimination game. UConn now returns to the Big East title game for the 12th time, with the team looking to secure its program’s sixth tournament title. It was all Huskies early and often on Friday against Xavier as they opened the game with a 10-0 advantage through five innings. After a pair of scoreless innings, UConn’s bats got warmed up in the bottom of the third when Ryan Daniels doubled to right center to send to runners home.

Moments later, Tyler Minick hit an RBI single to send Daniels home for the 3-0 lead. The Huskies extended the advantage to four in the next inning, after Beau Root scored off a Rob Rispoli single.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Huskies ran away with the game with six runs scored, beginning with a home run by Daniels to lead things off. After a walk brought a run in, both Bryan Padilla and Rispoli collected two RBI singles to extend the lead to 10-0.
The Musketeers got on the board in the top of the sixth when Jake Lambdin homered to left center. In the next inning, Lambdin earned a walk and collected an RBI to cut the deficit to 10-2.
