Cal and Louisville will close out their ACC series on Sunday afternoon in college baseball action.

The No. 18 Louisville Cardinals will host the Cal Golden Bears on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium for the final time in the teams’ ACC series. The Golden Bears come into the series finale with an overall record of 15-11 and a conference record of 6-5 for a spot in sixth place in the ACC standings. Cal opened its series against the Cards on Friday, falling in a close 11-10 defeat. On Saturday, the team kept the Cardinals close again and ended up picked up a 14-10 victory. Jarren Advincula led the offense for the Golden Bears, going 3-for-5 at the place with five RBI after hitting a two-run homer in the second and a three-run homer in the fourth. Also hitting home runs were Carl Schmidt and Max Hadron. Oliver de la Torre earned his second win on the mound after going 5.2 innings and striking out eight batters.

The Cardinals are dropped to 11th place in the ACC standings after Saturday’s loss. The team is now 19-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Louisville produced eight hits in the loss, but the hits faltered after the sixth inning. Zion Rose and Tague Davis each finished the game with three RBI as they both recorded two hits on the day. Lucas Moore and Rose hit a couple of dingers in the first and second innings, respectively, but the Golden Bears were able to hang tight with the Cardinals before ultimately pulling away. Jack Brown took the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs in 1.2 innings.

Cal and Louisville have now met a total of three times and the Cardinals hold a narrow 2-1 lead in the all-time series. Tune in on Sunday for the rubber match as the teams close out the series.
