No. 4 seed Central Connecticut State will battle the regional’s No. 2 seed in NC State, in Game 4 of the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park on the campus of the University of Auburn. The Wolf Pack finished their season with a 33-20 overall record and a 17-11 record against teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened up the regional yesterday with a game against the regional’s No. 3 seed, Stetson, and lost 11-2. They gave up seven runs to Stetson in the first inning and weren’t able to climb back in. However, they can still come out of the losers’ bracket to win.

NC State used an outstanding eight pitchers in the game. The team’s starter, Dominic Fritton, lasted one-third of an inning and gave up three earned runs. Josh Hogue and Brandon Novy both homered in the win for the team, but it wasn’t enough offense to get the ACC team going. The loser of this game will be eliminated from the NCAA Regionals.

The Blue Devils closed out their regular season with a 31-16 record overall and a 23-7 record against teams in the Northeastern Conference. They won the conference championship last week, which is what secured them a spot in the NCAA Regionals. They opened up against the regional’s host team and No. 1 seed Auburn, losing 9-5.

Drew Munn was credited for the loss for CCSU, just his third of the season. He threw 6.0 innings, allowing all nine earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts. Richie Kerstetter finished the final two frames scoreless. No one homered for the team in the loss, but Colby Brouilette and Matt Falk did finish with two RBIs each. Brady Short had the other of the five total RBIs.
