Coastal Carolina 1 win away from the College World Series as it takes on Auburn in the Super Regionals on Saturday afternoon

Coastal Carolina (52-11) takes the longest winning streak in the nation into Game 2 of its Super Regional at No. 4 seed Auburn (41-19) on Saturday afternoon. The teams meet at Plainsman Park in Auburn, Alabama, just hours after the 13th-seeded Chanticleers won the opener of the series on Friday night. With a win, Coastal Carolina would advance to its second College World Series and its first since winning the national championship in 2016. The Tigers are playing for survival as they seek a return to the CWS for the seventh time and the first since 2022.

Caden Bodine’s second home run of the game propelled the Chanticleers to a 7-6 victory in 10 innings on Friday night. They blew a 6-1 lead before Bodine provided the go-ahead clout. Bodine’s first homer put Coastal Carolina up 2-1 in the third inning and he also added an RBI single in the fourth. Blagen Pado homered twice and drove in four runs.

Auburn battled back to tie the game on Eric Snow’s solo shot in the seventh inning while Ike Irish hit a solo home run in the fifth. Relievers Carson Myers and Griffin Graves kept the Tigers afloat with 5.1 innings of shutout relief, with Graves fanning five in his three innings of work.

Saturday’s starting pitchers were not announced. Bodine comes in slashing .335/.470/.493 with five home runs and 41 RBI while Blake Barthol leads the team with 12 home runs and Sebastian Alexander has team-bests of 53 RBI and 27 stolen bases. Irish is slashing .365/.466/.716 for Auburn with a team-leading 19 home runs. Cooper McMurray tops the team with 59 RBI.
