The No. 13-seeded Coastal Carolina will take on Arizona in the first game of the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday afternoon. The Chanticleers came all the way out of the Conway Regional, which they hosted. As a top-16 team in the nation, they took down Fairfield, East Carolina, and the projected winner of the regional, Florida, to advance to the super regionals. They didn’t get to host a super regional as they faced off with the No. 4 team in the country, Auburn, in a three-game series in Alabama.

Not only did Coastal win the series, but it did so in two straight games, beating the Tigers 7-6 in the first game and 4-1 in the second. The 53-11 team is led at the plate by Blake Barthol and Sebastian Alexander. Barthol leads the team with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs, while Alexander leads the team with 53 RBIs, paired with 10 home runs.

On the other side, Arizona hasn’t hosted a game since the end of the regular season. They went on the road to the No. 12-seed Oregon in the Eugene Regional. They took down Utah Valley, Cal Poly, and Oregon in the regional to advance to the super regionals. They not only traveled again, but it was across the country back to Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

They took on the No. 5-seeded Tar Heels in the Chapel Hill Super Regional and won two games to one. They lost the first game 18-2, before winning 10-8 and 4-3, both in comeback wins over North Carolina. The 43-19 team this season is led by Mason White. The junior shortstop is batting .332 with 19 home runs and 72 RBIs this year.
