Blake Barthol and No. 13 Coastal Carolina will take the field in Game 1 of the College World Series against Jared Jones and No. 6 seed LSU.

The No. 13-seeded Coastal Carolina will take on the No. 6-seeded LSU in Game 1 of the College World Series Final series in Omaha, Nebraska. Just two teams remaining the CSW for a chance to take home the trophy with two more wins. The Chanticleers rolled through the Conway Regional and the Auburn Super Regional, knocking of the No. 4 team in the country on their way to CSW berth. Once there, they opened it up with a 7-4 win over Arizona on the back of two RBIs and a run from Blake Barthol, who went 3-for-5 at the plate.

They advanced last weekend to take on the No. 8 seed Oregon State and took that game 6- 2. C. Thorndyke had three RBIs on his lone hit of the game in that win. After two days’ rest, they took on and beat Louisville in the championship game of their bracket. Coastal Carolina won that game 11-3 as Thorndyke went 3-for-4 with two runs and five RBIs to advance to the finals.

The No. 6-seeded Tigers hosted the Baton Rouge Regional, nearly losing to Little Rock, and beat West Virginia in the Baton Rouge Super Regional. They opened up the bracket play in the CWS against No. 3-seeded Arkansas and won 4-1with a dominant pitching performance from K Anderson, who went 7.0 innings, giving up one earned run with seven strikeouts.

They moved on to take on No. 15-seeded UCLA in the second round and won that game by four runs, 9-5. Jared Jones blasted three-run homer in the first inning and followed it up with an RBI single in the eighth inning. They faced off for a second time with Arkansas after it came back out of the losers’ bracket. LSU won again, this time by just one run, 6-5 after five runs were scored in the ninth inning.
