The Miami Hurricanes will host the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles on Thursday to kick off a three-game ACC series at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The Hurricanes are in search of their first conference win as they enter Thursday’s game with an overall record of 13-9 and a conference record of 0-3 for a spot at the bottom of the standings. The team was swept by No. 14 Wake Forest to open conference play, but bounced back to beat Florida Atlantic in a narrow 6-5 mid-week matchup on Tuesday. Dorian Gonzalez Jr. and Daniel Cuvet led the Miami offense, each going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI. AJ Ciscar earned his first win of the season, going two innings and striking out three batters.

The Seminoles are at the other end of the ACC standings, starting off with a sweep against Boston College in the conference-opening series. The team outscored the Eagles 28-4 and won the finale 6-2 to improve to 18-1 on the season. On Tuesday, however, the team dropped an unlikely 9-2 game to Mercer, putting the Seminoles at 18-2 overall. Payton Manca took the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs in just one inning. Max Williams accounted for all of the Seminoles’ runs in the loss with a three-run shot to right field in the sixth inning.

Florida State and Miami have a storied history, having met a total of 302 times. The Seminoles hold a 162-136-4 lead in the all-time series and has won the last three games, completing the sweep last year.
