Myles Bailey and Florida State will take on Joe Powell and Mississippi State on Saturday in the Tallahassee Regional for a championship berth.

No. 3 seed Mississippi State will battle the regional’s host and No. 1 seed in Florida State in Game 4 of the Tallahassee Regional at Dick Howser Stadium on the campus of the University of Florida State. The Seminoles finished their season with a 39-14 overall record and a 17-10 record against teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened up the regional yesterday with a game against the regional’s No. 4 seed, Bethune-Cookman, and won 6-2. The runs started quickly for the team and came piling in fast, going up 5-2 at the end of the third inning.

Joey Volini started the game and gave up two earned runs on five hits over 3.0 innings with two strikeouts. Peyton Prescott, Chris Knier, and John Abraham completed the final six innings. Max Williams, Myles Bailey, and Chase Williams all provided the boost of offense with home runs. Bailey was the only one with two RBIs in the game, though, to propel FSU forward.

The Bulldogs closed out their regular season with a 35-21 record overall and an even 15-15 record against teams in the Southeastern Conference. They took on the regional’s No. 2 seed, Northwestern, the No. 19 team in the nation, in the first game on Friday night. They won that game soundly, 11-2, advancing in the winners’ bracket. The loser of this game will head to the losers’ bracket while the winner will advance to the championship.

Ben Davis started the game and was credited with the win, throwing five innings and giving up one earned run. Ryan McPherson picked up the save, pitching the final four innings. Noah Sullivan and Joe Powell homered for Mississippi State in the win, with Powell knocking in a total of four RBIs on the night. Gatlin Sanders also had three RBIs despite not homering.
