Northeastern will host Hofstra on Friday to kick off a Coastal Athletic series in college baseball action.

The Hofstra Pride will travel to Massachusetts this weekend for a Coast Athletic Series at Friedman Diamond with the series opener taking place on Friday afternoon. The Pride is currently in a three-way tie for last place in the conference standings with a CAA record of 3-6 and an overall record of 12-21. On Wednesday, Hofstra traveled to Connecticut to take on the UConn Huskies and ended up falling in a 12-4 defeat. Sean Lane led the offense with two runs after hitting a two-run shot to left field in the sixth. The team’s other run was unearned as Jake Harring scored on a throwing error in the third. Branden Brown got the start on the mound and dropped to 1-4 on the season after fiving up four earned runs in three innings of work.

The Huskies are currently leading the CAA standings with a conference record of 7-2 and an overall record of 22-9 so far this season. Earlier in the week, the team traveled to play Central Connecticut State, playing to a 12-5 victory which was credited to Max Gitlin after he pitched five innings and gave up one earned run and five hits. Harrison Feinberg and Alex Lane led the offense, each bringing in three runs with Feinberg hitting a two-run shot to right field in the first and Lane hitting a two-run single in the second and an RBI single in the fourth. Feinberg also hit a sac fly in the fourth to score Jack Doyle.

Hofstra and Northeastern have met a total of 62 times and the Huskies currently hold a 39-23 lead in the all-time series. The teams met four times last season with the final meeting taking place in conference tournament play with a 12-9 win going to Hofstra.
