The two teams were supposed to play on Friday afternoon, but the game got moved to Thursday afternoon due to inclement weather in the forecast. The game is meaningless, though, as the Hawkeyes have already clinched a spot in the semifinals thanks to their win over Rutgers on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes are the three seed for the tournament and will win any tiebreaker and don’t need to beat Indiana to advance. The Hawkeyes struck early, as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first and then added another run in the fourth. They did give up three runs late, but they held off a ninth-inning rally to get the 4-3 win.

The Hoosiers were hoping to be playing for a spot in the semifinals, but were upset by Illinos in the first game.

They were shut down in the first eight innings and were down 5-0 before they finally scored in the ninth.

They outhit the Scarlet Knights 10-9, but couldn’t string enough together to drive in runs.

The Hoosiers have been on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament and while the game on Thursday doesn’t mean anything for the tournament, it would be a big resume builder.
